What prefix and course number should I suggest?
Start by reading the Statewide Course Numbering Guide. It's a quick 3-page overview of how the numbering scheme works.
Visit the SCNS web site to see a complete list of course prefixes, numbers, and titles. This will give you an excellent opportunity to see how FGCU and other institutions are numbering similar courses.
Follow these instructions to get to the right place!
Click on the "Browse Institution Courses" tab.
If you want to narrow your search to include only a certain prefix, enter it in the Prefix field. You may leave it empty to bring up a list of all prefixes. Finally, place a check mark in the box next to "Include Discontinued Courses," and click the Browse button at the bottom of the screen.
Your results will look like this:
Expand the list where you think your prefix and course number are most likely to belong. You may continue expanding the list as you narrow down the likely location. Finally, you will see actual number assignments for Florida Universities. Clicking a particular course will allow you to see the course details and description.
Making a Decision: If you don't see a course number that seems to fit your particular offering, you may choose to suggest a number not currently in use. For example, if your course is similar to, but not the same as, a course numbered 2333, you may want to suggest 2334 for your new course.
