Angel allows the course editor several ways to lock and unlock items for student viewing. Items such as folders, files, quizzes, grades, and drop boxes can be locked and unlocked. The first way to control access to course items is through a date restriction. To restrict the viewing dates of an item:

• Click on the item you wish to restrict
• Click on Settings
• Click on Advanced
• Click on Access
• Choose the appropriate dates and be sure to check the boxes next to the dates
• Click save

The other way to lock and unlock items in Angel is to use the automate feature to not allow students to view materials until they have received a particular grade on an assignment or if they have completed/submitted an assignment. For specific instructions on this, click here.

To be sure that your items is not viewable by students, you can preview the course as a student by clicking on the sunglasses on the upper-right corner of the screen and choose student. Another way to see if an item is hidden from students is to view the lessons and note that your hidden item icon is faded.
