How to Apply for a Stafford Loan

This page will assist the first-time student borrowers at FGCU in selecting a lender. Please click on each lender icon to view the benefits of choosing that particular lender.

Before we can receive funds and disburse them to you, you must:

    • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) http://www.fafsa.gov/
    • Accept, Decline or Reduce your loan amounts through Gulfline.
    • Choose a lender. Please see our Preferred Lender List below to review/compare the lender benefits and to connect to lender web sites. FGCU recommends the following lenders as they provide quality customer service, efficient electronic processing and borrower rewards and benefits.
    • Students are not required to choose one of the preferred lenders. FGCU can and will process a Stafford Loan from any approved FFELP lender.
    • Complete the Lender Selection Form located in Gulfline, and check to see if Lender Selection Form is listed under your "unsatisfied requirements."
    • Complete the online Entrance Interview at http://mappingyourfuture.org/. Please check Gulfline to see if an Entrance Interview is listed under your "unsatisfied requirements."
    • If you are a new borrower at FGCU or are switching lenders, a MPN (Master Promissory Note) will need to be e-signed later in the process. Your lender will contact you with the instructions on how to e-sign this form.
