FGCU Scholarships & Tuition Waivers


FGCU students may be eligible for multiple types of financial assistance and scholarships.

It is strongly recommended that students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for competitive scholarships and other financial aid opportunities. Applicants can fill out the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ (step-by-step instructions provided).

FGCU Scholarship Opportunities

Foundation Scholarships

University Foundation Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, and/or other specifications set by donors.  To apply for FGCU Foundation Scholarships, students must fill out the online scholarship application.

* High school grade point averages are recalculated on a weighted 4.00 scale using only courses in the following subject areas: English, mathematics, social sciences, natural sciences and foreign languages. In the recalculation of grade point averages, A is valued at 4.00, B at 3.00, C at 2.00, D at 1.00 and F at 0.00.   One point is added for credits earned in honors, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate courses for grades of D or higher.

PTK Scholarships (Transfer Students)
 
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships are awarded to entering students who graduated from a Florida Community College and are members of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. For additional information, please click here: PTK Scholarships.

Valedictorian and Salutatorian Scholarships

Students who are the valedictorian or salutatorian of any high school graduating class in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties are offered a four year full tuition scholarship at FGCU. For more information, please click here: FGCU Val/Sal Scholarships.

Theodore R. & Vivian M. Johnson Scholarship

The Johnson Scholarship is a competitively awarded program available to undergraduate students with disabilities who enroll in Florida Gulf Coast University and contingent upon annual funding by the Theodore R. and Vivian M. Johnson Foundation and matching funding by the Florida Legislature.

Please contact the Office of Adaptive Services for a scholarship application and specific award criteria.

Minority Community College Transfer Scholarship

A competitive program, for qualified minority (Alaskan Native, American Indian, Asian, Black, Hispanic, and Pacific Islander) Florida residents, awarded on the basis of financial need, academic merit, both need/merit, and other select criteria.  This program is contingent upon continued annual support by the State of Florida.  To qualify, student applicants need to gain admission as a degree-seeking student into their junior year (FGCU) and complete an A.A. or A.S. degree from an accredited Florida Community College between December 2007 and August 2008.

Please submit the completed Minority Community College Transfer Scholarship Application and all required documentation to the FGCU Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance by May 31, 2008.
