Policy

It is the policy of the Office of Adaptive Services to exist under the premise of Florida Gulf Coast University and its mission.  FGCU promotes diversity and stresses the importance of learned knowledge and service to the community.  It is also the policy of the Office of Adaptive Services to provide services and accommodations for individuals who have a documented disabling condition, which could have adverse affects for the individual while attending FGCU.  Individuals with a documented condition will be granted services and accommodations that will supplement their learning styles and aid them in becoming successful in the classroom.  Finally, it is the policy of the Office of Adaptive Services that self-advocacy will be promoted and that each individual receiving services will become more independent and successful learners and that dependence will be placed upon themselves.

Procedure

The Office of Adaptive Services operates on different guidelines that will ensure institutional integrity and at the same time, promote equal opportunity for those with a disability.  Each of the following guidelines will detail the policy and procedures involved in each given area.  If questions or concerns arise, please contact the Office Of Adaptive Services.
