National Merit Scholarship Program
Background
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and college undergraduate scholarship. The competition is open to all U.S. high school students who meet published participation requirements. Scholarship winners are chosen on the basis of their abilities, skills and accomplishments.
Each year the national program advances 15,000 students to their finalist category. Notification is sent to all Colleges and Universities chosen by students on this list.
From this group approximately half will receive the National Merit Scholarship, or a Corporate scholarship or a College-sponsored scholarship.
In an effort to attract and assist these top quality students, FGCU will provide a $2000 a year scholarship to all National Merit Scholarship Finalists who chose to attend FGCU.
