Home-Schooled Students

Florida Gulf Coast University welcomes any student who has finished his or her high school studies through home schooling.

A growing number of  students have enrolled at Florida Gulf Coast University with home school backgrounds and as a group these students have excelled in both academic and co-curricular activities on the FGCU campus.

Home-schooled applicants are considered for admission to FGCU based on the same criteria and deadlines as Freshman Applicants.  To apply for admission, follow the Freshman Admission Process and list the name of the high school as “home school” on the undergraduate application.

If the home school is using a transcript service, have the service provide an official student transcript.  However, if another transcript option is being utilized, please make sure to itemize each course completed by academic year. After grades are earned in the designated courses, the transcript should be signed by the home school educator and then have the signature notarized.  If the home school is offering courses where the title does not make it clear as to subject content, please include a description of these courses.

The applicant should submit SAT or ACT scores with the transcript. Transcripts and test scores received and opened by the university may not be transferred to a third party or the applicant and become the sole property of FGCU.

If you have any specific questions concerning home-schooled students, please contact R. Marc Laviolette at (239) 590-7891.
