My student earned accelerated credit in Advanced Placement (AP) / International Baccalaureate (IB) / Dual Enrollment (DE). How will they be advised, taking into account these credits?

First Year Academic Advising Counselors will help guide your student with appropriate enrollment choices that take into account accelerated credit.  For more information on how we assist students with accelerated credit is available here.

My student is concerned about a hold on their account, is there a website where they can find out what the hold means and get information on how to resolve the hold?

The First Year Advising website provides a Student Hold Key that explains student holds and what steps may ne needed to resolve holds.

If students still have questions regarding a hold they are welcome to contact a first year advisor for additional guidance.

The FGCU Office of Student Involvement provides great information to help students become more engaged in campus life and activities.

Is there a waiver a student must complete to allow a parent or guardian to talk with their academic advisor?

Before an FGCU academic advisor can discuss a student's academic record with a parent or guardian a Family Education Rights and Privacy (FERPA) 3rd party authorization form must be completed by the student in-person and submitted with showing a photo ID to the Office of the Registrar in the first floor of McTarnaghan Hall 116.
