Preparing for Orientation

Congratulations on your admission to Florida Gulf Coast University!  We are looking forward to working with you as you begin your transition to the university and to your new life as a college student.  This transition begins with your attendance at an Eagle View Orientation program, where you will learn all about the university and the campus resources that exist to help you be successful and achieve your goals.

During the orientation process, students will participate in three sessions with the staff of First Year Advising:

The Introduction to Academics session teaches students about the components of their degree and the university's General Education Program, introduces students to university policies and procedures, and reviews important academic resources on campus.

The Preliminary Schedule Building session gives students an opportunity to learn how to search electronic course listings, enabling them to identify a preliminary list of courses and facilitate an understanding of how to create a balanced course schedule for their first semester.

The Advising and Registration session allows students to receive advising from professional advisors and Orientation Leaders as they finalize their course schedules and complete the course registration process.

In addition to attending these program sessions, some incoming freshmen will take a Mathematics Placement Test during orientation that will provide information about their readiness for college level math - this will allow us to properly advise you regarding the appropriate math course for your program of study.

Once you have registered for an Eagle View Orientation program date, we encourage you to prepare for the academic components of orientation by taking some time to review the following information:
