Student Email Information
All students of FGCU get a student email account. This account offers you access to a 10gb mailbox, a cloud based storage solution that is accessible from anywhere, calendaring, email to your smartphone, and a host of other services. Accessing your student account is easy. Simply visit http://eagle.fgcu.edu and follow the instructions on activating your student email account. You will need your university ID number (UIN) and your Gulfline PIN to be able to activate your account. Once activated you can log into your student email, FGCU's online learning system, register your computer in housing, or many other systems.
Students can use their own devices on the public wireless network on campus. Alternatively, if they are residents of FGCU's housing, they have access to their own wireless network. Using the residential network (ResNet) allows for access to almost all Internet resources while at their residences.
All users of the student housing network must first register their device with the housing registration system. After having done so, computers are allowed on the wired and wireless network. The registration process ensures that your computer meets at least the minimum requirements to be on FGCUs ResNet (up to date version of their operating system and a running antivirus software).
Registering Your Computer
If you are a student living in North Lake Village or South Village you MUST register your computers & laptops to be able to get network access. To be able to do so, please have your EagleMail account activated (see Student Email Information above), and be connected to the wired or wireless network. Once you are connected, please follow the prompts to register your computer. For more information, visit the FGCU ResNet homepage.
Registering Your Mobile Device/Gaming Console
If you are a student living in North Lake Village or South Village you MUST register your mobile devices to be able to get network access. To be able to do so, please have your EagleMail account activated (see Student Email Information above), and be have tried to connect to the network with your mobile device at least once. When you have done so, please go to the gaming device registration page of the ResNet and register your device. You will need to know the device's MAC address in order for you to register it. For more information, please go here.
Peer to Peer Policy
We would like to remind all students that sharing and downloading of copyright protected content, such as music or movies is against the FGCU acceptable use policy, and federal law. To protect the University and the students, a system was put in place to automatically monitor and enforce a four strike policy. The system may temporarily revoke your network access based on the detection of a file sharing event from your computer. Please be aware that illegal file sharing is a serious offense and FGCU cannot tolerate repeat offenses. If you would like to download music, or movies, there are a number of commercial sites available that will not cause your network access to be limited or restricted.
