Recent News:
FGCU is currently searching for an Eminent Scholar to fill The Backe Chair for Renewable Energy, recently founded by John D. Backe of The Backe Foundation Inc. This senior academician will become the face of the Innovation Hub and drive its vision of expanding initiatives in renewable energy by advancing the Backe Chair’s research and teaching agenda. He or she will also have a leadership role in the design and development of the FGCU building.

The University strongly desires someone with an established research program that includes associate personnel and instrumentation that can transition to FGCU. The Backe Chair is intended to be part of FGCU’s College of Arts and Sciences or the U.A. Whitaker School of Engineering. However, the academic reporting structure will be determined based on the disciplinary expertise of the chosen candidate. Compensation is negotiable, but is also based on background and seniority.
"Our hope is that Florida Gulf Coast University Innovation Hub becomes home to the vision, diversity of talent and spirit of collaboration that will guide the region and the entire state of Florida into the future."
