Developing
the Essay
A five-paragraph essay is NOT required for
the CLAST. However, the "official" CLAST guidelines suggest four to
six paragraphs.
1. Topic prompts are designed to result in either a first
person or a third person essay.
2. In developing a body paragraph remember three key
points:

Indicate
the point of the paragraph in a topic sentence
o
Explain
that point with specific details.
o
Give an
example whenever possible.
