Mentoring Program Suggested Activities
Here are some suggested activities for mentors/mentees:
| Have lunch together, perhaps off campus |
Send e-mails or e-cards |
| Translate educational jargon |
Walk through the bookstore |
| Show interest in the students' progress |
Mail a birthday card |
| Attend campus activities |
Introduce your student to other students on campus |
| Enjoy a community event |
Explore the campus and its student services |
| Work on a resume |
Refer students to other university services when needed |
| Talk about the present and the future |
Make a phone call just to check in |
| Encourage students to become involved in campus activities and student organizations |
| Drop a note or call just to let him/her know you are thinking about her/him |
| Send letter of encouragement before or after a major test or assignment |
