Terry Busson, Ph.D.

Dr. Busson serves as Chair of the Division of Public Affairs.  He earned his Ph.D. in urban studies and administration from Kent State University.

Prior to joining FGCU he was at Eastern Kentucky University for 26 years where at various times he served as Department Chair, Graduate Programs Director, Director of the Institute of Government and the Founding Director of the Center for Economic Development.  He also served as a visiting scholar at the Council of State Governments for 2 years.  He also taught at the University of Texas at Tyler and Thiel College in PA.

Dr. Busson is the author of numerous articles mostly dealing with community and economic development and state and local government.  He has served on the National Council of the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA), as Chair of the ASPA Ethics Committee, as Chair of the Section on Intergovernmental Administration and Management, the Board of Editors of the Public Administration Review, and on the Board of the Policy Studies Association. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of Public Administration Quarterly and the Executive Committee of the Section on Non-Profit Management for the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration.

His teaching and research interests are in the areas of community development, strategic planning, non-profit administration and state and local government.
