Dr. Zager's primary research and teaching interests lie in the empirical examination and testing of criminological theory and deviant behavior (explaining and predicting adult and juvenile offending) as well as in the scholarship of teaching and learning in these areas. Mary Ann Zager earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology at the University of Arizona, where her work in crime and deviance led her to an emphasis in quantitative research (research methodology and statistical analysis). She has extensive experience working on external projects (funded at the local, state, and federal level by public and private entities) as a researcher and/or principal investigator. This work has enabled Dr. Zager to apply her theoretical and research skills to real-world problems such as risk assessment of institutionalized populations (youth and adult) and program evaluation. Her current work focuses on the scholarship of teaching research and statistical analysis as well as student learning outcomes assessment.
