Scott Snyder holds an M.F.A. from Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois and a B.A. from Taylor University, Upland, Indiana. He has spent the last 14 years as a curator of fine art and as a ‘practicing artist.’ Snyder has been a member of the video group Paul Harvey Oswald (PHO) for the past 10 years.  PHO works have been exhibited  in the touring exhibition “Illegal Art” sponsored by Stay Free Magazine, as well as museums,  galleries and public events scattered across the country. His personal sculptures, video and mixed media works have been exhibited in Chicago at the ARC gallery, Nexus Gallery in Philadelphia, South Bend Museum of Art, Lakeview Museum, Peoria, Rockford Art Museum,  Northwestern University, among others. Snyder’s work has been published and reviewed in the New Art Examiner, Adbusters and Rockford Magazine.

He has performed his curatorial duties at The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and at the Rockford Art Museum in Illinois. He has curated over 50 exhibitions at these institutions, as well as serving as a guest juror or curator for several other venues. Past exhibitions include:

Reuniting an Era: Abstract Expressionists of the 1950s.

Flora: The Beauty of Botanicals in Art. Exhibition included: Georgia O’Keeffe, Milton Avery, Judy Ledgerwood, Pat Steir, John James Audubon, Brett Weston, and Laura Gilpin.

31 Shopping Days 'Til...?: Pop Culture in Art at the End of the Millennium.

Since the summer of 2005, Snyder has lived in Fort Myers and worked as Gallery Director and Assistant Professor at Florida Gulf Coast University. His most recent exhibitions include V-Chipped: Video, Art, Gender and Society  with works by Alex Bag,  Jia Chang, Bruce Nauman, and Shirin Neshat, inAppropriations: Artists that Copy, Sample, Beg, Borrow and Steal, featuring video, audio and sculptural works by Negativland, Paul Harvey Oswald and Vyd, and Recontextualized: Recent Works by Matt Siber.

In spare seconds of time, Scott continues to dabble  in video art production and construction of objects that defy any rational thought or purpose for being.
