I am a Life-span Developmental Psychologist with a focus on adulthood and aging. I teach Principles of Development, Psychology of Adulthood and Aging, Developmental Psychology, General Psychology, and Directed Study. My research examines how social contexts (e.g., working with a partner, marital quality, and exposure to emotionally positive messages) influence problem-solving performances throughout adulthood. I am currently working on several projects including: how minimal exposure to emotionally positive messages influences problem-solving performance in middle-aged and older adults, examining verbal behaviors of married and stranger older-adult dyads performing different problem-solving tasks, factors related to homelessness among older adults, and how age and gender influences attributions related to everyday problem-solving errors.
