Professor Brock has been teaching at FGCU since 1998, after having been something of an academic Kelly Girl, teaching at universities in Indiana, Tennessee, Idaho, Pennsylvania, and Miami, before landing in Fort Myers. In Southwest Florida, he participates in various environmental and cultural organizations, treasuring such places as the FGCU Theater Lab, Arts for ACT Gallery, the Alliance for the Arts, Bunch Beach, Ding Darling Refuge, and Six Mile Cypress Slough.
His current writing projects involve poetry, drama, and collaborative performance, and his collaborations have included working with Grammy-Award-winning Kat Epple and choreographer Alyce Bochette, formerly of the Mark Morris Dance Company. Of equal importance, he has collaborated with students on intermedial performances, having performed with them at Art Royale, the Alliance for the Arts, and the FGCU Theater Lab, and he has acted in a number of FGCU Theater Lab productions. A native of Idaho, he is a big fan of Matthew Barney, Boise State football, and Picabo Street.
