Research and Teaching Interests:  Environmental Literature

Professor Wohlpart has published essays on Dickinson, Whitman, Hawthorne, Douglass, and others in American literature. His current research and scholarship includes editing a collection of essays entitled A Voice for Earth: Writers Respond to the Earth Charter. His current research interests are in Native American literature, environmental literature, and women’s literature; he is working on a book tentatively entitled A Mind of Sky and Thunder: Remembering the Forgotten Language. He also has worked on large-scale course redesign with the National Center for Academic Transformation. In his free time, he enjoys walking Earth, as gently as possible, and training for triathlons.
