Gaetano T. Ferlazzo, B.M.E.

Gaetano Ferlazzo holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Miami where he studied classical guitar with Juan Mercadal & Rene Gonzalez.  Mr. Ferlazzo completed extensive studies in Jazz Guitar with Paul Guma.

Mr. Ferlazzo is in his 31st year as a music educator, and is currently the band director and guitar instructor at Mariner Middle School in Cape Coral.  He taught classical guitar at Edison State College for six years as an adjunct instructor.  In addition to his public school position, he serves as the Secondary Music Specialist for the Lee County School District.  Mr. Ferlazzo is a board member for the Music Foundation of Southwest Florida and is the instructor for the Music Foundation’s summer guitar camps.

Mr. Ferlazzo has a number of works in publication with TrevCo Music.  The Gran Quartetto by Nicola Petrini-Zamboni, edited by Mr. Ferlazzo, was published in 2012 & the Six Quartets for Winds by Rossini/Berr, edited by Mr. Ferlazzo and published in 2013.  He is a life member of the Florida Bandmasters Association and in 2010 was the recipient of the Innovative Teaching Award from the Florida Music Educators Association for his cross-curricular project where he integrated music into the 8th grade English curriculum.
