Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Mr. Bernardo holds a Masters Degree in Music Performance from the University of Michigan where he studied with noted saxophonist Donald Sinta. At Florida Gulf Coast University, Mr. Bernardo is Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone and Coordinator of Computer Applications at the FGCU Library.
He has commissioned and premiered compositions for saxophone including Rhapsody for Saxophone and Orchestra by Vaclav Nelhybel and Sonata for Saxophone and Piano by Hubert Bird. Mr. Bernardo was a Fulbright Scholar for Study Abroad recipient and has performed as a soloist with orchestras and in recital appearances throughout New England and Portugal. His teaching credits include twenty years of saxophone instruction throughout the New England area, including Keene State College of the University of New Hampshire, Franklin Pierce College and the Brattleboro, Vermont Music Center. In addition, he has been active in computer assisted music technology projects in the areas of music typography, ear training software and music software reviews.
