Summit-Solutions for Southwest Florida: Dialogues on Music in the Schools in the 21st Century
May 9-10 is a significant event for music educators and supporters in Southwest Florida. The Bower School of Music, in partnership with the FGCU Foundation, the Ft. Myers Mastersingers, Piano Distributors and Cadence Music, is sponsoring a series of Dialogues on Music in the Schools for the 21st Century. The intent is to create working partnerships that allow for a conversation between music teachers and area adminstrators that facilitates Music Education in Southwest Florida. Marcia Neel, Supervisor of Music, and Mary Beth Scow, Clark County School Board, bring their expertise from Las Vegas, Nevada where schools have met and conquered the same challenges as Southwest Florida. James Perry, CEO of the Florida Music Educators' Association, and Dr. LInda Lovins, Florida Department of Education and Program Director ofr the Florida Alliance for Arts, bring their unique perspectives of the Florida's needs and challenges regarding, in particular, FCAT and budget.
