Vision: Inspire  ♦  Create  ♦  Perform            Changing Lives Through the Power of the Arts.

VISION IN ACTION

Gerritt VanderMeer (theatre) will be the narrator for the Naples Philharmonic Young Persons Concert series: “The Conductor’s Spellbook” during the month of September at Artis Naples.  Young Person's Concerts are targeted to elementary age students and more than 4,000 students, teachers and parents will attend a total of 23 concerts.

Anne Carncross (theatre) and 16 theatre majors and minors (joined by approximately 20 students from LSHS) once again helped with the Southwest Florida International Airport's Full-Scale Emergency Drill in October of 2015. Students had the opportunity to test not only their acting skills as injured passengers and workers, but also their theatrical makeup skills in creating the horrific wounds needed as part of the drill that is staged every three years.

Several piano students, including Pedro Che and Jason Gomez, have recently performed as part of Koreshan State Historic Site's Music Series, which is open to the public.

Anica Sturdivant (Gallery Coordinator) juried and gave a talk at BIG Arts for their DiscARTed exhibition in October and November, 2015.

The Wind Orchestra performed at Carnegie Hall on November 27, 2015.

Mary Voytek (art) serves as a Board member to the Sydney and Berne Davis Art Center.

Judy Evans (music) has been working in the Collier County Public Schools as the Orchestra Director; in Pinellas County, setting up a pre-kindergarten violin program; and in Hillesborough County doing a teacher/student workshop.

Anne Carncross (theatre) and her Stagecraft students volunteered for a combined 62 hours over 2 days on the build of a Habitat for Humanity home. Aside from helping with the creation of a home, the students were able to gain both tool and building experience they would not normally be provided due to space constraints.
