David Thomas

Dr. Thomas has a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology which he received from The Union Institute in June 2001. Prior to receiving his Ph.D. Dr. Thomas served as a police officer and retired from the Gainesville Police Department after 20 years of service. As a police officer his assignments included: Patrol, Detectives, Street Crimes, SWAT, Hostage Negotiations, Community Policing and Training. Dr. Thomas is a certified expert in the Use of Force and his research interests include: police ethics, victimology, serial homicide, and inmate populations. Before coming to FGCU Dr. Thomas served as the Director, Criminal Justice Training at Grand Rapids Junior College, and as an Assistant Professor at St. Johns River Community College, SUNY Fredonia and St. Petersburg College.
