Carolyn Culbertson

Carolyn Culbertson joined the philosophy program at FGCU in 2013. She received her PhD in philosophy at the University of Oregon in 2010. Before joining the faculty of FGCU, Dr. Culbertson taught at University of Maine Farmington and Elon University. Her teaching and research areas include twentieth century Continental philosophy, East Asian philosophy, Feminist philosophy, and Ancient Greek philosophy. She is particularly interested in theories about the role of language in self-knowledge, the topic of her current book project entitled The Claims of Language.
