TOTAL SEMESTER HOURS REQUIRED 18 HRS
Religious Studies is an 18 hour program designed to give students a broad grounding in the academic study of religion. The study of religion is interdisciplinary, and the courses in this minor draw from history, philosophy, literature and anthropology as well as religious studies itself. Students may take this program to pursue an area of personal interest, to complement their major, or to prepare for further graduate or vocational training in the field. Religious Studies is a unique and intellectually exciting field, combining a traditional humanities focus on texts and ideas with the cultural and historical methods of the social sciences. To understand religion is to gain insight into some of the forces shaping the contemporary world.
