Primary Research and Teaching Areas: Creative writing, composition, children's literature, adolescent literature, writing for children.

Professor Henshon came to Florida Gulf Coast University in the fall of 2005 and has taught creative writing, memoir writing, nature writing, and composition classes. Dr. Henshon has over 200 publications, including sixteen books. She is the author of the "Millie" series for children, ten William & Mary Navigator study guides, and two creative writing books published by Prufrock Press in 2007. Dr. Henshon recently published Notes from a Writer (with Valija Rose) through the Center for Gifted Education at The College of William & Mary. In 2010, Dr. Henshon published Mystery Science: The Case of the Missing Bicycle (with Diego Patino) through Prufrock Press. Dr. Henshon has presented at The College of William & Mary, The Sanibel Island Writer's Conference, Longwood University, and Florida Gulf Coast University.
