Dr. Kenneth J. Tarnowski is a former medical school professor of pediatrics and psychiatry who is a Founding Faculty Member at FGCU and the Chair of the Department of Psychology and Full Professor (tenured) of Psychology (Clinical). He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who is a triple Diplomate and Board Certified in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology, and Clinical Health Psychology (American Board of Professional Psychology). He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and received his Clinical Psychology Doctorate from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. He completed his clinical residency in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Mississippi School of Medicine, and his post doctoral clinical training at Ohio State University School of Medicine and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He is the author of over 100 scientific publications in the areas of health & behavioral medicine, pediatric psychology, and developmental psychopathology and is the current Editor in Chief of the international peer reviewed journal Child Psychiatry & Human Development*as well as Editor of the multidisciplinary pediatric psychology/developmental and behavioral pediatrics journal Children’s Health Care.*His scientific contributions have been acknowledged by award of Fellow Status by the Association for Psychological Science (APS) and the award of Quintuple Fellow Status by the American Psychological Association (APA) [Clinical Psychology, Pediatric Psychology, Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology, Health Psychology, and Child and & Youth Services]. His teaching interests include clinical psychology, developmental psychopathology, health psychology, legal and ethical aspects of applied psychology. His clinical interests include pediatric burns, long-term sequelae of pediatric injury, disadvantaged children and families, pediatric neuropsychology, and pediatric forensic psychology (civil, dependency, family, juvenile).
