I study social influence, broadly defined, which includes the areas of conformity, compliance, obedience, persuasion, and behavioral mimicry. I am especially interested in studying the needs that are fulfilled by influencing others in a variety of ways. I am also interested in the interplay between social influence at the individual level and culture. I teach courses in General Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Social Psychology, and Senior Seminar. I also involve students in my research through the Directed Study course.
