Nathan teaches composition, creative writing, and advanced fiction classes at FGCU. He holds a BA in English and Journalism from the University of Iowa and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Massachusetts. His short stories have appeared in Fiction, AGNI, Pleiades, The Sycamore Review, Born Magazine, The Antioch Review, and several other journals. Before joining the Department of Language and Literature 2006, he worked at the Academy of American Poets in New York City, editing the website Poets.org. He's also worked as a newspaper and magazine journalist. He was the winner of the Short Story Prize from Fiction Magazine for his story "The Bottle," and he was nominated for the "Best New American Voices in Fiction" series. He lives in Naples, and spends his summers in Chicago.
