Patrick D. Murphy has been working in literary ecocriticism since the writing of his 1983 MA thesis on spirituality and place in the poetry of Gary Snyder and Wendell Berry. He is Professor of English at the University of Central Florida and has authored, among other books, Literature, Nature, and Other: Ecofeminist Critiques and Ecocritical Explorations in Literary and Cultural Studies. He has also edited and co-edited numerous books, including The Literature of Nature: An International Sourcebook and Ecofeminist Literary Criticism, which is now being translated into Chinese. He was the founding editor of ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment, now distributed by Oxford University Press. Currently, he is focusing on literary and cultural representations of climate change and international water issues. This past year he offered a doctoral course in the Texts and Technology PhD program analyzing the rhetoric, narration, and usability of climate change websites.
