Degree Requirements 2007-2008 Catalog Year

It is strongly recommended that transfer students complete a course in differential equations and an introductory statistics course during the first two years. (Note: Students completing general education at FGCU should take STA 2037 to fulfill the statistics requirement.) No pass/fail grades, satisfactory/unsatisfactory grades, or grades below a C will count to fulfill the common prerequisites or the requirements for the major.

The College of Arts and Sciences also offers a minor in Mathematics [.pdf - 118kb].

Common Prerequisites (variable)

  • COP 1500 Computer Language (3) or Pascal, FORTRAN, C, C+, or C++
  • MAC 2311 Calculus w/Analytic Geometry I (4)
  • MAC 2312 Calculus w/Analytic Geometry II (4)
  • MAC 2313 Calculus w/Analytic Geometry III (4)

Plus successful completion of two (8 hrs) of the following laboratory-based science courses for respective science majors:

  • BSC xxxx/xxxxL (4-8)
  • or CHM xxxx/xxxxL (4-8)
