Getting Started

If you are not yet an FGCU Student, visit the Admissions Office Web site.

If you are a newly-admitted FGCU student please be sure to sign up for an Orientation session. As part of this session you will be meeting with an academic advisor who will assist you in registering for classes for your major.

If you are a current FGCU student who wants to change your major or explore the requirements for any Arts and Sciences major, please call (239) 590-7196 to schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor.

Program Admission Requirements

  • Submit a FGCU Undergraduate Admission Application and satisfy all applicable university admission requirements.
  • Complete common prerequisites with a grade of C or better.
  • Attend an orientation session.
  • Sign an Advising Contract.

Academic Advising Requirement

Students must meet with a College of Arts and Sciences advisor prior to entrance into any of the programs and prior to beginning coursework for an individualized program of study. A signed advising contract, which serves as a check sheet of requirements, is required.

The academic advisor will assist students in preparing an academic plan that incorporates university, college, and program requirements including general education, CLAST (College Academic Skills Test), foreign language, Gordon Rule writing and computation, and Eagles Connect-Service Learning. Service learning activities provide structured learning experiences in community settings and are designed to fulfill specific undergraduate learning goals and outcomes, reinforce and enhance classroom learning, and meet community needs.
