Cultural Immersion for AUPAIRS
AUPAIRS visit became a learning experience for all invloved.
Continuing Education welcomed 22 Au Pairs to the FGCU campus to attended classes to enhance their knowledge on American culture, values, beliefs, amongst other subjects.
Au pairs were from many countries: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Mexico, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey and Ukraine were all in the mix.
The program provided the au pairs with 34 hours of continuing education credits, that were accomplished through lectures, class participation, movies and trips. They had a chance to visit the Edison and Ford Estates in Fort Myers, and also toured Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island. Group projects were completed while learning about each other's countries, life style, and other topics.Throughout the weekend participants were assigned to keep a journal of their choosing while participating in the program.
Au pairs went back to their host families after gaining more knowledge of traditional American culture, meeting new friends, exploring and sharing ideas, enjoying campus life, and learning what other au pairs experience while visiting the US.
