FGCU and W.I.T.S. (World Instructor Training Schools)

The course prepares you for success with key topics that include biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing, and equipment usage and health assessment. W.I.T.S. is the only major certifying body in the country providing comprehensive practical training and internship components (

  • Taught in 5 weeks for great retention and skill competency
  • National Exam is held on the 6th week
  • 62-hour program comprised of: 15 hours of lecture; 15 hours of practical training at an area fitness club; a 2.5 hour exam (on the 6th week); plus a 30-hour internship
  • Course Syllabus

Upon completion of all course requirements, and documentation of the necessary CPR/AED first aid training, you will become a WITS Certified Personal Trainer.

*Minimum age requirement is 18 years of age.
W.I.T.S. is an approved CEU provider for the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC), the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB), the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Dates:   Saturdays, October 22 - December 3, 2016 (No class Nov. 26)
Time:   9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. (Classroom), 1:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. (Fitness Center)
Location:   Atrium Executive Center, 8695 College Pkwy, Fort Myers 33918 (classroom); Fitness Center for hands-on training TBA
Cost:   $749 includes: lectures, practical training at fitness center, exam, and internship, (textbook extra)

CPR/AED Certification

First Aid CPRThis classroom-based, instructor-led course teaches first aid basics featuring single-rescuer and team basic life support skills. Learn emergency recognition including medical emergencies, injury emergencies and environmental emergencies. Gain valuable adult, child, and infant rescue techniques. Attain skills for relief of choking. Grasp high-quality CPR (Cardiopulminary Resuscitation) know-how. Learn proper AED (Automated Externa Defibrillator) use.
