Health Science Concentration

The Health Science concentration is an interdisciplinary program designed to provide career advancement opportunities for entry level health profession practitioners as well as individuals that seek future careers in health care.  The program is also recommended for students who are interested in a health profession that requires a master of science at the entry level, such as Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. All of the upper division courses required to complete this program are available by web based distance learning.

The program embraces different backgrounds and interests and is appropriate for individuals who wish to gain further interdisciplinary education.

Student Outcomes:

Graduates will demonstrate the following entry-level competencies:

• Basic skills and an understanding of the principles, concepts, and processes of health care delivery.
• An understanding of the multifaceted roles of health care professionals in an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary environment. 
• An understanding of the social, economic, political, and professional forces that shape the health care delivery system.
• Development of effective and appropriate communication skills.
• An understanding of legal and ethical implications. 
• The application of principles of research and inquiry to investigate problems, demonstrate outcomes, and apply findings to health care settings. 
• An ability to assess needs, develop priorities and implement solutions to problems. 
• An understanding and utilization of technology.

This is a web based distance learning program. Some courses may be taken on campus if desired.
