The undergraduate athletic training major at Florida Gulf Coast University is located in the college of Health Professions. The program is designed to  academically prepare students for the field  of athletic training that instructs students  on the process of evaluation, advise, and  treat athletes of any type and of all ages, to assist them to recover from injury,  avoid injury, and return to pre-injury status. Upon completion of this program of study,  students will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in Athletic Training and are eligible to take the Board of Certification examination to become a BOC certified athletic trainer. 

The Athletic Training program is 120 credit hours in length. Upper division requirements can be completed in five semesters.

Clinical Education

The program also requires students to complete a series of clinical experiences.  The experiences include FGCU intercollegiate athletics, professional athletics, local sports medicine clinics and local high schools.
