About Comunity Relations and Marketing

Welcome! Florida Gulf Coast University's Office of Community Relations and Marketing serves as the University hub for communication to the media, public-at-large and campus community. We disseminate information and advise on FGCU identity, copy style guidelines and marketing strategies to ensure a clear, memorable and compelling representation of the University - a consistent and effective image for all communications.

As FGCU's institutional voice, Community Relations and Marketing interacts and coordinates with the media to create awareness of the University and to cultivate relationships that build positive attitudes about FGCU. This includes acting as a liaison for the University between local, state and national media, and University faculty and students; offering news and human interest stories via print and broadcast; arranging news conferences and helping to ensure that the University's story is told accurately and in a timely manner. In addition to daily contact with the media and hundreds of press releases per year, the department produces the FGCU Quarterly Report, a quarterly television show, designed to showcase University achievements and progress. The University's community magazine, Pinnacle, debuted in December 2006. The publication is issued five times a year.

Community Relations and Marketing offers creative support to the University in the marketing of its educational programs and outreach endeavors to the community with objective planning, consulting, and quality strategic marketing services. These include proofreading, editing, original writing, design review and design consultation. Our responsibilities include effectively communicating key institutional messages in a clear and consistent manner, and increasing the visibility and image of FGCU as a quality institution.

She served on the Board throughout the groundbreaking, the building, the opening and the accreditation of FGCU until her term ended in 1999. Audrea received a bachelor's degree in English from Allen University in Columbia, S.C. and a master's degree from Miami University in Ohio. Currently, she is a Board member of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, the United Way of Lee County, and the Dunbar Improvement Association.
