Business Community Invited to Program, Breakfast at FGCU about Internships for Talented Minority Students
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University is uniting its eager, capable minority students and Southwest Florida's business community to help develop the area's future captains of industry by offering a free informational program and continental breakfast about INROADS," a national organization that places talented minority youth in business and industry, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 26 in Griffin Hall Room 107 on the FGCU campus.
In addition to placement services, INROADS prepares African-American, Native American and Hispanic-American college freshmen and sophomores for corporate and community leadership by implementing two to five summers of work experience, training and guidance. INROADS recruits only students of color with 3.0 or better grade point averages and typically helps students who are developing careers in business, engineering or science.
Over the past five years, about 8 out of 10 graduates who received offers from their INROADS sponsor company accepted full-time employment with them after their internship ended. Nine out of 10 sponsors recommend participation to other companies and alumni unanimously recommend INROADS to minority youth.
INROADS is funded through fees from sponsor organizations and is supplemented by foundation grants and contributions. As an accredited comprehensive public university, FGCU addresses the higher educational needs of Southwest Florida and provides a learning-centered environment that offers high quality educational opportunities for the general public, such as hosting the INROADS program.
Representatives from companies and organizations who would like to make a reservation to attend the program, or who would like more information about INROADS, contact Lizzie De Jesus, INROADS Manager of Marketing and Client Relations, at (813) 289-6991 extension 109, or firstname.lastname@example.org, or contact Reid Lennertz, FGCU Coordinator of Employer Relations, at (941) 590-7960 or email@example.com.
