Caloosa Elementary Students on the Hunt for Easter Eggs at FGCU
4/9/2001

FORT MYERS, FL - About 150 kindergarteners from Caloosa Elementary School will be visiting the Florida Gulf Coast University Student Services Plaza on Tuesday, April 10, and placing all of their eggs in one basket - one Easter basket, that is. "The Student Government Association tries to reach out to our community and one of the best ways that we feel we can do this is with our young children," said Toni Rice, president of the SGA, which is sponsoring the event. "We wanted to bring them to our University setting and let them see what a college looks like. Perhaps the next time they hear FGCU or see and "eagle" (FGCU mascot) they will think of us." The SGA is providing bus transportation, coloring Easter eggs, photographs with the Easter bunny, an Easter egg hunt and other games and events. It is also providing lunch during the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., thanks to a special discount by Subway. "The reason we chose Caloosa Elementary is because we have good means of communication with them via the SGA secretary. Her daughter attends Caloosa. I would like to see this event become a tradition and each year the SGA pick a different elementary school," Rice said. For more information, contact Rice at (941) 590-7948 or trrice@eagle.fgcu.edu.
