"Leadership...The Critical Difference" Workshop Offered by FGCU Florida Institute of Government

FORT MYERS, FL – Managers and employees from both the private and public sectors are invited to attend a one-day workshop “Leadership…The Critical Difference” presented by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Gulf Coast University from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4. The workshop will be held at the Center for Professional Development at Edison Community College.

For managers who constantly strive to find the right balance that will result in the greatest performance from their employees, the workshop will help you to enhance your current strengths and develop additional strategies for success.

Objectives:

·How to identify the traits/behaviors of successful leaders

·How to inspire and motivate others

·How to build a championship team

·How to listen and communicate effectively with diverse employees

·How to develop a mission and a focus on results

·How to encourage cooperation and consensus

Mary Ellen Dorsett is instructor for the program. She is an organizational development executive and is president of her own consulting company. She is a certified Chief Training Officer whose background includes 27 years of experience in administration, marketing, human resources, training and career development. Mary Ellen earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University, a master’s degree from Nova University and is a doctoral candidate studying Human Resource Development at George Washington University. She has traveled throughout the United States and Canada delivering programs on customer service.

The central purpose of the Institute is to help promote superior performance in government and nonprofit organizations through quality training, consulting and technical assistance. As an accredited comprehensive public university, FGCU addresses the higher educational needs of Southwest Florida and provides a learning-centered environment that offers high quality educational opportunities for the general public, such as administratively hosting the Institute.
