The Sixth Annual W. Thomas Howard Lecture Series
You are invited to attend the sixth annual W. Thomas Howard Lecture Series titled Managing Change in Higher Education and Business on November 28, 2001 at Pelican Sound Golf & River Club in Estero. A reception begins at 5:30 p.m.; the lecture and panel discussion begin at 6:45 p.m. Guest speaker Robert Lowder is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive officer of Colonial BancGroup, Inc., headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama. Lowder is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Auburn University where he is serving his second term.
The panelists for the evening are three local businesspeople who are also members of the Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees: Gerri Moll is President of the Bank of America Southwest Florida; Edward Morton is the Chief Executive Officer of NCH Health Care System; and Jerry Starkey is President of WCI Communities.
In addition to attending the program, you are invited to meet and interview guest speaker Lowder and the panelists. Special arrangements have been made for you to meet with them at 6:00 p.m. in the Waterside dining room (a student host will direct you).
Organized by the Florida Gulf Coast University College of Business and generously sponsored by the family of the late Mr. Howard, the W. Thomas Howard Lecture Series is in honor of his civic and business leadership. Credited with bringing the University of South Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University to Fort Myers, Howard worked tirelessly to establish a university presence in Southwest Florida. A successful business leader, Howard was President and Chief Executive Officer of First Federal Savings and Loan Association.
Please RSVP by November 27 at 590-1081 if you plan to attend the 6:00 p.m. press conference session. For further information on the Howard Lecture Series and the evening's program, please contact Rosemary Meza at 590-7301.
