FGCU Offers Certification Program for Financial Planners: Open House December 11
FORT MYERS, FL - To help the growing number of people seeking advice from qualified financial professionals, the Florida Gulf Coast University College of Business, through its Center for Leadership and Innovation, is hosting an open house about FGCU’s Certified Financial Planner Certification Education Program, 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the Center in Bonita Springs.
FGCU's CFP program is registed with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. The CFP Board was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1985 and is an independent professional regulatory organization that owns the federally registered CFP™ and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ marks. FGCU's CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certification Education Program is comprised of six courses and an examination review. Each of the classes in FGCU's CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certification Education Program will meet 3 hours per evening, one evening per week for 10 weeks. All courses are instructed by practicing financial professionals with the CFP™ certification. Currently FGCU’s CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™Certification Education Program is the largest trainer for CFP™education in the East coast of Florida, training hundreds of financial professional throughout South Florida with contracts with many of the largest financial houses in the nation; Merrill Lynch, Suntrust Bank, AXA Financial, and FAIFA.
“Due to the many changes that are occurring in our economy, there is an there is an increasing demand in the financial services industry for financial consultants with the Certified Financial Planner designation,” associate professor and director of sponsored projects and programs at the CLI, Arthur J. Rubens, said. According to Rubens, CFP professionals work in fields such as small financial planning practices, large financial services, credit unions, banks and other financial institutions. Some CFPs even specialize in one or more areas.
The CFP designation helps consumers identify a competent, ethical financial professional with the highest standards to assist them. CFP professionals are recognized for taking the extra step to demonstrate their professionalism by submitting to the rigorous CFP certification process.
Tuesday’s open house will provide information about the FGCU certification education program beginning in January in Bonita Springs at the CLI. The program is ideal for working professionals in the financial services industry or the person changing careers. FGCU offers open enrollment for the public and contract programs for large corporate customers.
Following successful completion of all six education modules, the individual can sit for the CFP exam, which is given in March, July and November.
