200 Student Scholarships Available; Applications Due Saturday, March 30
FORT MYERS, FL - Two hundred scholarships ranging in value from $500 to $3,000 may not be awarded at Florida Gulf Coast University if applications are not received by the March 30 deadline. Anyone who plans to attend FGCU in fall 2002 is eligible and encouraged to apply.
“Only those students who complete the application by March 30 will be considered for Foundation scholarships,” director of Advancement Judie Cassidy said. “This is a 10-minute application that asks questions about the student’s goals and challenges.”
The FGCU Foundation, the fundraising arm of the University, extended the original deadline from March 23. Students who received a Foundation scholarship in academic year 2001-02 must re-apply to be considered for 2002-03.
“One need not be in dire straits or a straight-A student to receive these scholarships. Some are based on residency alone, some on major, some on personal characteristics of the students.”
Current and prospective students can view a list of available scholarships at: www.fgcu.edu/foundation/s.html and should complete the online application at: http://mercury.fgcu.edu/fgcu/scholarapp.asp by the March 30 deadline.
In addition, students may apply online for need-based grants or loans by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at: www.fafsa.ed.gov.
