Florida Gulf Coast University Hosts Career Day for Students With Disabilities
FORT MYERS, FL - The Mayor’s Alliance, Florida Gulf Coast University and Lee County Schools are sponsoring a Career Day for Students with Disabilities from 10:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, May 10 on the FGCU campus.
The mission of the Education Committee of this partnership is to develop and implement an annual educational program/project directly related to disabilities. This year the partnership is hosting over 250 high school students with disabilities to explore career opportunities. Thirty Lee County school staff and volunteers will participate in the program. The theme is Career Day 2002: Meet the Challenge!
Several of the largest employers in Lee County will attend and present, including Lee Memorial Health System, Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, U.S. Marines, Publix, News-Press, Lee County District Schools, Goodwill Industries, Walgreen’s Drug Store, U.S. Navy Recruiters and FGCU’s Office of Human Resources. Dr. Sanders, Lee County Schools superintendent and Jane Kuckle, chair of the Lee County School Board, both responded that they will attend this year’s event.
