Presents "Healthy Hearts" Workshop
FORT MYERS, FL - People interested in preventing heart disease and improving their cholesterol levels are encouraged to attend the “Healthy Hearts” workshop to learn about holistic approaches from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 in the Florida Gulf Coast University Whitaker Hall Sprint Room.
The workshop will review the latest research in heart disease prevention, including lowering cholesterol levels with stress management, nutrition and exercise.
Specifically, the workshop will discuss the role of diet, vitamins, minerals and herbal therapies in heart health, teach the components of “mindfulness based stress reduction” and its effect, and review the current recommendations for exercise in preventing heart disease.
Presenters include cardiologist Horace Dansby of Cape Coral; author and certified mental health therapist Constance Clancy of Lee County; registered dietitian and FGCU instructor Joan Faris; exercise physiologist and FGCU instructor Tony Burkett; and holistic nurse practitioner and FGCU assistant professor of nursing Donna Wolf.
Registration is required and the workshop fee is $49. Box lunches are available for $8.
