Top Post in National Advertising Organization Goes to FGCU Professor
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University associate professor Ludmilla Wells, FGCU’s Excellence in Service 2001 winner, continues on her trek of quality. The American Advertising Federation elected Wells, who teaches marketing and advertising in the College of Business, chair of the national organization’s Academic Division, effective July 1.
Wells served as the division’s vice chair last year and has served on the Board of Directors of the Advertising Federation of Southwest Florida. She is also a member of the American Academy of Advertising.
Wells has more than 25 years of professional administrative and teaching experience in corporate communications management, corporate marketing, advertising copywriting and design, and advertising agency account supervision.
Her expertise was in the former Soviet Union where she taught at Moscow University, the Higher Commercial Management School of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, the Classical Graduate Business School, Russia, and GFS in Berlin, Germany. She is fluent in English, Russian and Spanish.
Previously, Wells was at the University of Miami where she was an assistant professor of Advertising and Public Relations in the School of Communication with teaching emphasis in the creative development of effective advertising and public relations communication. She was also a member of the graduate faculty.
Wells earned a B.A. in commercial art, BBA in marketing from Eastern New Mexico University, an MBA in marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Ph.D. in communications from the University of Tennessee.
The AAF is a 50,000-member organization. The Academic Division guides programs for 210 college chapters, including 6,400 students and 350 professors. The AAF is “the unifying voice of advertising. With headquarters in Washington and a Western region office in San Francisco, AAF is the advertising trade association that represents the ad industry in its entirety. AAF's 130 corporate members are advertisers, agencies and media companies that comprise the nation’s leading brands and corporations.”
