Elizabeth Burris Named Assistant Softball Coach
9/12/2002

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University named Elizabeth Burris as assistant softball coach this week.

Burris, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, was an excellent student, posting a 3.7 grade point average throughout her academic career while graduating with Cum Laude honors.

“Liz knows the game very well, she was a catcher at UNC Charlotte, and therefore, a general on the field. She will bring a wealth of experience to our program,” head coach Dave Deiros said.

Last year, Burris coached Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, N.C., to an undefeated 14-0 season. Burris is optimistic about her new opportunity. “I’m really looking forward to working with Coach Deiros and am very excited to have the opportunity to coach at the college ranks.”

Burris is working on a master’s degree in counseling at FGCU.
