FGCU Baseball Gets "The Edge", Miami's Alvarez
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University’s head baseball coach Dave Tollett has signed two more recruits that are outstanding this early signing period.
Willie Edge, a local standout from Estero High School known as “The Edge,” is one of the top pitching prospects in the area. Edge recently participated in the invite-only Diamond Club Showcase and Tollett believes “Willie has a high ceiling and has shown signs that he can dominate games from the hill.”
Also signing with the Eagles is Oscar Alvarez. Alvarez, three-year lettermen from Westminister Christian in Miami, will play in the outfield for Tollett.
“Oscar comes from a great tradition of athletes at Westminister Christian.” Both Alex Rodriguez and Doug Mientkiewicz played at Westminister Christian.
“He brings a tremendous passion and a solid work ethic to our program,” Tollett said.
Edge and Alvarez join Frankie Nobile as FGCU’s early signings this fall.
