Educator Brenda Lazarus Lectures, Conducts Research in Qatar on Fulbright Grant for 2003-2004 Academic Year

FORT MYERS, FL - Education professor Brenda Belson Lazarus at Florida Gulf Coast University has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture and conduct research at Qatar University, Doha, Qatar during the 2003-2004 academic year, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Scholarship Board.

Lazarus, who left Aug. 30 and will return July 8, 2004, will conduct curriculum development and teach in the graduate certificate program at Qatar University. She will also research inclusion practices on special education in the local schools of Doha, Qatar.

Lazarus is one of approximately 800 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad to some 140 countries for the 2003-2004 academic year through the Fulbright Scholar Program.

Established in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late Sen. J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the program’s purpose is to build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries.
